Iconic Motorcycle Passes: Goderdzi, Ushguli & Tusheti
Seasonal openings, fuel availability, tire choice (50/50 vs road), and technical difficulty for riders.
1. Goderdzi Pass (Batumi – Akhaltsikhe)
- Altitude: 2,025 m
- Road condition: Paving is extending, but significant unpaved gravel and clay sections remain. Can be slick after rain.
- Season: Mid-May through late October.
- Bikes: Adventure / dual-sport recommended.
2. Zagaro Pass & Ushguli (Svaneti – Lentekhi)
- Altitude: 2,623 m
- Road condition: High clearance rocky track with water crossings. 50/50 knobby tires recommended (Mitas E-07+, Anakee Wild, TKC80).
- Season: Late June through October only.
3. Abano Pass to Omalo (Tusheti)
- Altitude: 2,826 m
- Road condition: One of the most exhilarating mountain cliff roads in Eurasia. Sheer drops, hairpin bends, waterfalls over rock road.
- Season: July to early October. Check with Tusheti National Park before departure.
